Zinch Update!

Bonjour!

As mentioned in the post Scholarship Search Sites Part 1, I won two scholarships through Zinch.com: a scholarship search site with a "double your money" guarantee...

Well, after a change in the policy's rules and a wee bit of wrestling around with customer service (due to technical difficulties), they are going to give me $1000! How cool is that?

All I had to do was 'like' the scholarship on their site, mark it as applied, and notify them that I won. However, due to the policy changes, they will only honor one match per person up to $1000, so I can't get the actual amount doubled or get credit for the second scholarship. BUT STILL! $1000!!!

If you haven't already, I urge you to make a Zinch profile and start searching today! Here's mine!

Bonne Chance!

Alumni Annual Giving

Hi all,

I just wanted to share with you a little project I was involved in last semester...

Essentially, I was chosen by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature to write this letter to the Department's alumni in order to collect donations for our scholarship fund. As this is only a proof, though, the actual document differs slightly... I think it turned out rather well!

And yes, they are still accepting donations! ;) Have a great day!

Update Time!

Bonjour tout le monde,

Earlier last year, I made an offer to volunteer in the WIU Office of Study Abroad this spring semester. To my surprise, they offered me an internship!

Each week I spend Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Friday afternoons, helping in the office and learning about the study abroad process from the inside. So far I have sat in on a preadvising appointment, and started beta-testing a new software system. I've been having a really good time!

Also, I have recently been promoted to President of Western's Ambassadors for Study Abroad! Hopefully we can grow the organization and further strengthen the study abroad promotion initiatives on our campus before year's end.

These experiences will certainly lend me some experience in the ways of study abroad student advising, and offer me some résumé padding for my grad school apps!

Hooray for international education!

What have you all been doing since the semester began? Let me know in the comments!

À bientôt!
